The TVGUYSat dish (SP75) has been a stock item of our supplier for over 8 years and over that time, thousands have been sold. They've been used all over Australia from Burnie to Bamaga and beyond. The SP75 measures 75cm across and 83cm top to bottom. It features a rolled edge for extra strength and is zinc coated then painted.
The rear bracket is the best design with a single wingnut to loosen to adjust the elevation of the dish. We've always favoured this design as opposed to other brands like Azure Shine or Triax with their over complicated mechanism and difficult to read elevation scale. There's even a plastic retaining clip to hold the U bolts together and stop the dish from sliding down the mast while you're sorting out the alignment.
For quick set up and pack up, the front LNB arm can be easily removed by loosening the knob on the rear of the dish.
An included padded dish bag is provided for this dish and protects all of the components. It has internal pockets for the small components, padding all round and enough room to store the cables too.
A sturdy tripod is included which has adjustable legs for uneven ground, bubble level and peg holes in the feet. This weighs about 4.5KG and packs down to 600mm.
Setup and ready to go, the TravelSat dish with tripod will look like this.
The LNB (amplifier on the front of the dish) is compatible with Austar and Foxtel and has a single output. This is suitable for all standard pay TV boxes and is included in this kit. However, if you have MyStar or Foxtel IQ, you will require a twin output LNB with 2 cables coming from the dish and connected to your MyStar or Foxtel IQ decoder inside the van. If so, let me know when ordering.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
SATELLITE METER
You'll need to align your satellite dish to the satellite and to do this we include a digital satellite meter. With this meter you WILL hit the right satellite the first time. Switch on the meter, turn the dish until the meter indicates SATFOUND and the beeper is sounding. Done ! The digital satellite meter has an inbuilt, rechargeable lithium battery so you can position the dish while connected to the 3240 meter and align it first, then connect the coaxial cable from the van. The Meter features an LCD display that alerts you both visually and audibly when the satellite has been found.
COAXIAL CABLE
For standard single tuner Foxtel or Austar decoders you'll require:
- A short cable for the dish to connect to the meter
- 10m cable from the dish to the caravan wall
- Internal 1m cable from the inside wall to the decoder
For twin tuner Foxtel or Austar decoders you'll require:
- a short twin cable for the dish t0 connect to the meter
- twin 10m cable from the dish to the caravan wall
- twin internal 1m cable from the inside wall to the decoder
WEATHERPROOF WALLPLATE
You'll need a way to connect that external coaxial cable in through your van wall. We can supply our EziPlate weatherproof wall fitting that is easy and neat to install. The EziPlate can adjust to wall thicknesses up to 35mm and is a direct, no loss connection from outside to in. You may already have something similar but unless it is a direct connection from outside to in with no joins or splitter in between then it will not work.
A concise TVGUYSat manual can be included to guide you through the alignment process.
Flat Panel Design
The SatKing ProMax Fully automatic motorised satellite TV dish system is the most advanced system on the Australian market, utilising the latest in flat panel antenna design.
The flat panel design receives the signal through small copper slots that act like many antennas in one. The signal is fed through small chambers that actually increase the signal gain through this process. The antenna arrays are then mixed together via a combiner and fed into the high performance rear mounted LNB, resulting in greatly increased gain.
Flat panel satellite antennas also take up a great deal less space on the roof of your van leaving you with more choices for the exact location that you place the ProMax on your roof. You will be able to place the ProMax in between solar panels and air conditioners and even position the unit directly above a cupboard to easily drop cables in.
Flat panel satellite TV antennas offer higher signal gain than many larger oval offset oval type satellite TV dishes. The increased gain is also related to not having the large arm out the front of the dish that can easily become not accurately aligned as you bounce along the road resulting in reduced accuracy (less gain). This design means the Pro Max will provide Australia wide coverage for VAST & Foxtel.
The ProMax is also not effected by wind like the larger old style oval dishes that pixelate when the winds blows. The unit does also not need to be retracted in high winds like the large oval dishes.
The SatKing ProMax has 3 motors meaning the old days of having to manually get up on the roof of the van to adjust LNB skew (turning the LNB clockwise or anti clockwise) when you are travelling from say Melbourne across to Adelaide and then to Perth are gone. The complete head of the ProMax simply adjusts automatically for you. The precise automatic skew with this unit will also improve the signal quality in low signal areas.
Simple To Use
The SatKing ProMax is very simple to use, simply turn the unit on, select the sateelite you wish the view and press "OK". The unit will then locate your position and set the elevation and skew angle automatically via the GPS and then locate the direction all within 80 seconds. Your VAST set top box will then load your channels and land on your last watched channel or channel 800. For Foxtel the STB will load the program guide listing and resume on the last watched channel, easy.
Installation is easy, simply select the location of your choosing apply Sikaflex to the underside of the mounting plate and then fix the plate to the roof and screw the mounting plate into a beam in the roof of the van, the Promax then simply fits on to the mounting plate with just 4 nuts. Connect the 3 cables and connect the power to the controller inside the van and turn the unit on, job done.
Please watch this video for more details on the install of the unit.
Watch TVBuilt in GPS
The built in 24 channel GPS allows the ProMax to know your exact location, the unit is not just simply searching the sky trying to find a signal. Knowing your exact location allows the unit to pre-set the skew and elevation angles making locating the signal much easier. Then once the satellite is found the unit with then automatically fine tune both the skew and elevation to achieve the highest signal level.
The built in GPS also will detect if you have left the unit up when your driving and automatically retract if the unit is powered
Pre-Programmed to receive VAST and Foxtel/Austar
This motorised satellite system suits Foxtel and VAST satellite TV. The unit has dual LNB outputs to suit twin tuner STB’s like Foxtel IQ/Austar MyStar and VAST twin tuner receivers.
The Promax can receive both DVBS and DVBS2 transponders (SD & HD MPEG4), this means the Promax can actually tune to all transponders available on both Optus C1 and D3. The added bonus of having the DVBS2 tuner already built in is that when Foxtel goes completely MPEG4 the Promax will continue to work (VAST is already MPEG4). Many other automatic systems on the market only can tune to the older MPEG2 signals, that is fine today but in the future you will have and expensive system just spinning around and around.
Numerous Applications
The ProMax has many other applications for satellite TV. The ProMax is used on mining and 4WD vehicles when overnight stays are required in remote areas so contractors can watch TV when work is finished for the day.
There is also a ProMax currently being used on one of the new kidney buses that head to regional area's to give patients dialysis without heading to a major towns. More of these buses are being rolled out.
The ProMax is also used in outback area's where it is not possible to get a satellite technician to attend due to distance, simply un-pack from the box plug into 12VDC and plug in your VAST receiver and watch TV in just minutes. Or you may simply be camping where there is no terrestrial TV, place the unit on the ground with a clear view to the north and power up, connect up your VAST STB and be watching satellite TV within minutes.
